Save money with Halloween decorations your create yourself? They may not look the same as that pre-cut foam thing you overpay for at the superstore, but homemade Halloween decorations can rival those found in stores with creativity, but less cash.

A glowing ghost is the perfect example of how simple and fun making Halloween decorations can be. Activate a mini glow stick, slip it inside a balloon, and blow up the balloon.

One of the best ways to save money on Halloween decor is to buy Halloween decorations the day after Halloween. There are many great buys on Halloween decorations the days immediately after Halloween.

Add orange flickering bulb (Christmas-style) candle lights in windows that do not have silhouettes (like attic windows). Using everyday craft supplies, you can make ordinary pillar candles that cast a ghastly glow.

Use some scrap plywood to cut tombstones from and paint with black or gray paint with funny or peculiar names of people.

Looking at the Halloween decorations available online you can get many great ideas for Halloween decorations and even costumes that you could make yourself.

Shopping at thrift stores can be an easy, low cost option to find unique Halloween decorations and costume accessories.

Halloween Party Ideas Kids Will Love

September 15, 2008 · Posted in Holiday Parties, Party Supplies · Comment

Every child should host at least one Halloween party in their lifetime. While not all kids are lucky enough to do so, if you’re willing to allow your children the opportunity they will love you for it! Use these Halloween party ideas to make their ghostly party a raging success!

Food Ideas

For your ghoulish event, think about doing a few holiday themed food choices. Along with the normal chips and dip, think about making spider treats. You can use either chocolate donut holes or chocolate round cakes as the spider body and add licorice for legs. Use red hot candies for the eyes and the kids will love it! Try serving Jello with gummy worms inside for adding flair!

Game Ideas

One fun game your kids will love is the mummy wrap. Create teams of three and give each team three rolls of toilet paper. Each team should choose one person to be their mummy. The remaining two players will be timed and will wrap their “mummy” with the toilet paper. At the end of the time limit, whoever has wrapped the mummy most completely will win. Only give the children about 30-45 seconds per group.

The Three Most Essential Party Decorations

When you’re planning a party, it can be overwhelming to think about all of the details. Most people choose to focus more on food and entertainment and leave the decorations out.

However, there are a few party decorations you should never skip! Choose a party theme (birthday, luau, anniversary, etc.) and get to work!

Eating Décor

Chances are you’re focused on what you’re serving at the party. So, to add easy and effortless décor to your event think about choosing theme related eating accessories. Plates, cups, napkins and utensils can quickly make your party look “put together” without you needing to give much energy to the process.

Lighting

One of the most fun parts of a party is the atmosphere. A party naturally has a fun and inviting ambiance, with music playing and people chatting. Why not spice it up even more with lighting effects? This requires a bit more energy, but the results are worth the time.

If you’re planning an outdoor party at night, think about stringing Christmas lights all around the area for added lighting. White twinkling lights can really make a party mood soar! If you’re indoors, you can still choose to use strings of lights. Or, you can purchase a party light ball. These balls act much like a disco ball and can be loads of fun!
