Thirteen is a "milestone" year. You will be lucky if your child will "let" you throw a party. Let your child select the party theme and the party's location.

Remember, this party is for your child, so let your teen make the plans, and give them some space during the party.

This is also a good time to host coed parties with children from school, including both your child's female and male friends.

Sweet sixteen is yet another milestone. It is important to supervise the gathering, but make sure you stay in the background and let your child have fun with their friends.
